Marymere Falls: Long Exposure
I took this shot in Hog Rain Forest. Loved the foggy, green, mossy views. This particular falls is located in inside the rain forest – Olympic National Park near Lake Crescent in Washington, United States. The falls are accessed by a one-mile, well maintained, dirt trail through old-growth lowland forest consisting of fir, cedar, hemlock, and alder trees. Falls creek descends from Aurora Ridge and tumbles over Marymere Falls and then flows into Barnes Creek. It has a height of 90 feet. The falls is one of the more popular attractions in the area, due to ease of access and proximity to U.S. Highway 101. Enormous sized trees, undergrowth providing fresh berries for hikers, a bridge over active springs, springy paths on which to so comfortably walk that you feel air-borne, fairly level terrain, warning of cougar sightings may be a bit off-putting but instructions are provided on how to share their space
No Filters – Just waited over 2 hours for the light to shot this image. Dont want to describe all the info in the description.
Questions are welcome.
Settings na?
F 2.8
Exposure: 0.6s at F14
+1/3 EV – Shutter priority
ISO 125
Metering: Pattern
Why do we need ISO while having low shutter speed na? Was it a very low light situation?
I didn’t understand your question
And whats that f 2.8 and +1/3 Ev na?
If we have low shutter speed like 0.6 s you will have more light then why we use ISO as 125?
2.8 is Av
1/3 Ev is the positive correction
You mean exposure compensation na?
I need a clean sharp image. That’s why I controlled my shutter to a lower value. Trees and bushes are waving with wind.
You can compensate the exposure with either positive or Negative value based on light. If it’s dark go positive. If it’s bright go negative
Sure na thanks for the info.
Clean image with silken effect. Quite nice. Is it dusk time or a orange filter at the top?
Not really. It’s almost in a fall season and the time of the shot is around 2.00 pm. This is a rain forest and the whole area is covered by foliage including the top of the falls. The fall leaf colours are reflected by the wet rocks. To the real eyes I can’t visibly notice that. Since it’s a long exposure the colours got exposed.
Good Observation . I was waiting this Question
